Reach 4 Life is a faith-based curriculum that couples the New Testament with HIV/AIDS teaching promoting a commitment to Christ as Lord and Savior, and commitment to abstinence until marriage. Youth are trained to lead the program among their peers.
In 2007, I worked with a team of Mozambicans to translate this book. The translation was completed and then put into print in 2010. World Hope Mozambique has given Unitas 12,000 books to use in the Wesleyan Church of Mozambique over the next 3 years. Also, I am working with Celebration Church who received another 2,250 books. This is very exciting. To see the books in print and then offered to the hands of Mozambicans is a dream come true for me.
This year R4L will be working in 13 Wesleyan churches in the Xai Xai District and with Celebration Church. The plan is each year to take the program to a new part of Mozambique. I hope that over 3 years R4L can be used throughout Mozambique in all 11 provinces. Currently this year R4L has trained youth of these 13 churches to lead the program as it is peer led, and the Bible School students to assist with monitoring. My hope is that they (the Bible School students) can help us implement the program in the North and help with monitoring as transport to all areas throughout the year can be difficult and costly.
