The goal of the freedom project is to help people reach a better way of life through community development. The Freedom Project focuses on six different areas of community development across the villages of Mozambique.
A glaring challenge for many individuals in eastern Africa is the availability of adequate care if afflicted with mental or physical disability. In this regard, it is one of Unitas' missions to educate and equip those identified individuals addressing the wholistic side of faith and ministry. We hope to bring awareness around commonly held stigmas and allow freedom from oppression.
The struggle for many communities throughout Mozambique is sustainable food and income. We have identified and partnered with 5 communities to launch our cattle and agricultural project. This cause will allow Mozambican villages the opportunity to start and grow their own cattle herds for self-sustaining food and income. It is our goal to then expand this project to additional communities.
The empowerment of skills development first began in 2014. The women of Fidel Castro community have worked diligently and furthered their skills, and they now train others. The women sell their hand made items to assist their families with overall expenses. The women work together in discipleship and accountability to see their community advanced. Through Unitas' support of this project, the women further develop their skills and community initiatives.
Reach 4 Life is a faith-based initiative which couples the New Testament with HIV/AIDS awareness. The program first began in Mozambique in 2007 with 2 pilot projects in local Wesleyan churches and has now grown to working throughout the country in multiple denominations and prisons. With discipleship and partnership at its forefront, Reach 4 Life encourages fidelity within the marriage and relationship with Jesus Christ. Unitas' support allows this project to continue to reach Mozambique and the surrounding areas with this amazing message of hope.
In partnership with Reach 4 Life in Mozambique, Unitas International is working in the prisons of Mozambique. Our aim is to see lives restored with Christ's love and forgiveness. In doing this, we will also work and train other pastors and lay leaders to minister in southern and eastern Africa.
Many of our causes boil down to one thing: spiritual enrichment. Through partnership with local churches our goal is to provide the Gospel and reach as many people as possible with the power of God's word.
